For the first time, the Taste of
Sydney festival will be dedicating an entire feature to all
things sustainable food; from eating and participating in a sustainable food
system, right through to cooking things from scratch and growing your own
food!
We are pleased to announce that Sustainable Table will be hosting the
main stage, featuring demonstrations and debates that will engage people
in the wonderful world of sustainable food,as well as some of the challenges we
are facing, both globally and locally.
Stage events will include:
- Dirty Girl Kitchen/Aga Jam Stage will
be a demonstration area for jamming, canning, picking, DIY, handy, thrifty tips.
All the Granny Skills you can think of. Hosted by Dirty Girl Kitchen.
- A
beautiful, colourful vegie garden will be the main feature and used for all
cooking demonstrations to promote the joys and taste sensations of seasonal
eating and growing your own food.
- Kids pizza oven, where kids can roll out
the dough and create their own pizzas from produce in the vegie garden.
- A
Sustainable pop-up restaurant with a different chef each day who is committed to
sustainable food production.

- The global food crisis - what it is and what we need to do to avoid
it.
- How we can contribute to shaping a more sustainable and ethical food
system.
- Why good old-fashioned organic farming is better for the earth and
our health.
- Seasonal eating - why it's important.
- The backyard
revolution - growing your own food.
- Local and community action - kitchen
gardens in schools, food swaps, transition town networks.
